As the second oldest island on the Hawaiian circuit, spanning 597 square miles, lies between her sisters Kauai and Maui; made up of two major mountain ranges – used to shield volcanoes but long since extinct. The mountain ranges in the overview, known as the Waianae range in the west and Koolau to the east, run almost parallel to one another. The Waianae range is the oldest part in an overview - at a cool four million years. Whereby, as a result, ridges extend from the spines in each range, and the valley and bays provide amazing scenery.

The average temperatures on the islands are moderately warm, with blowing trade winds serving up 74 to 88 degrees F.
